Written and directed by Chris Dainty and produced by the National Film Board of Canada, Shannon Amen is an animated short film that blends traditional 2D animation with an innovative technique called “icemation,” animating large-scale ice sculptures through stop-motion and puppetry.

Inspired by the life and art of  Shannon Jamieson, the film reflects her visual style while exploring her struggle to reconcile faith and identity.

Premiering at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2019, Shannon Amen received critical acclaim and was nominated for Best Animated Short at the 8th Canadian Screen Awards. It has since screened internationally, including Annecy’s “We Are One: A Global Film Festival.”
